Batman: The Killing Joke – Review (Republished)

Batman-The Killing JokeHello interweb, Nate here! So a while back I reviewed the animated movie Batman: The Killing Joke. Now I just got done watching the recent animated movie Batman and Harley Quinn and I was in the process of writing up a review of the film. I made a reference to this review and when I went to link my Batman and Harley Quinn review to this one I realized that this review reverted back into a draft. I’m not quite sure why this is or what happened but I decided to republish it with as few edits as possible. This is, word-for-word, my original review of the animated movie. I guess you could consider this a “Lost episode” if you want. Anyways, this is a spoiler warning review and enjoy! Stay tuned for my review of the Batman and Harley Quinn animated movie!

Everything Wrong With: “The Dark Knight Returns” Pt. 3

Hello interweb, Nate here!  Finally, here’s part 3 to my Everything Wrong With: “The Dark Knight Returns” series!  One more to go after this one!  Hopefully it won’t take as long to get out there for you guys lol.  Sorry about the wait, by the way!

Disclaimer: I do not claim to own Batman or this comic.  Batman is owned by DC comics, this comic is written and drawn by Frank Miller. (more…)

Top 10 Favorite LGBT Characters – Pride Month Special

Hello interweb, Nate here!  My first Pride Month special!  I’ve always meant to do one of these but every time I found the time to do one Pride Month was over and I didn’t really want to do a Pride Month special if it wasn’t during Pride.  I also wanted to get this out on the 26th since that marked the second anniversary of gay marriage being legalized in all 50 states in America, but I got busy on a Youth retreat and thus didn’t have the time to complete this.  Maybe in future years I’ll be able to create a tradition of releasing a Pride special every year on June 26th but don’t get your hopes up.  Enough beating around the bush, this list consists of my Top 10 Favorite characters in comics or comic book adaptations that identify as LGBT.  Leggo!

Everything Wrong With: “The Dark Knight Returns” Pt. 1

Hello interweb, Nate here!  First of all, yeesh I forgot how big this book was.  Four chapters does not equal four of your average comic books.  Most comics only contain roughly 20 pages and usually takes about 10 minutes to read (although that can change depending on how fast of a reader you are and how much text the writer decides to shove into the actual book).  So this SuperheroSins took a lot longer to make then I initially expected and it took my several days to actually complete it.  However, because it’s so long I decided to split this into several parts with each chapter getting it’s own SuperheroSins episode.

Also I do want to add something, just because I do a SuperheroSins on a specific comic does not necessarily mean I think the comic is bad.  But every comic out there can be critiqued and nitpicked if you try hard enough (side note: I find it funny that my auto correct accepted “nitpicked” as a word).  With all that said, let’s begin!

How I would make the DCEU

Hello interweb, Nate here!  So, the DCEU has been kinda sucking hasn’t it?  I mean, Man of Steel sucked, Batman V Superman – while I like it as a guilty pleasure – is plagued with sloppy writing, and Suicide Squad most see as the worst of the DCEU movies.  So this year Justice League and Wonder Woman is coming out.  Justice League will probably suck, and I’m really hoping Wonder Woman is at least a good movie if not a great one.  But one criticism the franchise has been facing over and over again is that they’re rushing the movies out too quickly to catch up to Marvel.  Hell, they’ve announced a Nightwing movie when The Batman is still having development issues at the moment!  So I was wondering if  was in charge of this whole project, how would I run it?  So here’s my idea! When reading this, keep in mind that I’m starting from a clean slate.  Meaning I’m pretending Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad never happened!

Also keep in mind I’m just focusing on the story aspect at the moment.  Not thinking about cast, directors, writers, etc.

Ranking the 2016 Comic Book movies

2016-comic-book-moviesHello interweb, Nate here!  So today was suppose to be the Top 5 DC Comics of 2016, but I’ve been busy and I’m not fully caught up with all the DC comics I’m reading currently.  Therefore, I decided to do the comic book movies first and instead of a Top 5 list why don’t I just simply rank them?  After all, there were six movies so why not? Will we see Robin in the DCEU? – Comixplanations

Batman's RobinsHello interweb, Nate here.  So I haven’t used this Comixplanations segment as much as I originally planned.  Ah well.  So anyhoo, we have heard from Warner Bros that Ben Affleck is not only playing Batman in the DCEU Batman movies but will also be directing it.  Of course you can’t do an MCU-styled DC movie universe without making at least one Batman solo film.  We know that Wonder Woman’s movie is in the works (I reviewed the first trailer) and Man of Steel 2 is currently in development (PLEASE make it better than the first movie) and on top of that Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern are all getting their solo movies.  So with that there’s quite a bit of questions and speculations that we can make while waiting.  However while a few of those characters I know very little about (like Aquaman), I do know most of the characters in the Justice League as well as their history and characters.  And while any one of them can make a really good movie series given the right creative teams (barring Cyborg really since he honestly needs the Teen Titans to be the least bit interesting), Batman in particular has the potential for a greater movie series than even the beloved Dark Knight trilogy with so many villains and allies that have yet to be used fully in a previous Batman movie.  But there’s one ally that I’m really curious on how they’re gonna go about with: Robin!

Suicide Squad – Review

Suicide SquadHello interweb, Nate here.  So I saw Suicide Squad opening day!  But before I get to this review I do want to confirm that I’ll be reviewing The Killing Joke either later today or tomorrow but I’ll definitely be reviewing it rather soon.  I put a poll up in my Wonder Woman trailer review and I have at least 4 of you guys wanting me to review this animated movie and nobody seems to be against the review so I figured I’ll give into your guys’ desires and cough up a review for the movie.  But I’m not reviewing The Killing Joke!  I’m reviewing Suicide Squad!  So let’s get into this!  And as always, spoiler warning. Suicide Squad Trailer Review and Explained

Warning:  All of what I’m about to say may very well be me speculating and theorizing.  So if I say something that contradicts something that is revealed later than that is why.  Also just to be on the safe side I’m just going to say there are possible spoilers below but I highly doubt there’s anything that will ruin the movie if I mention it.

Hello interweb, Nate here.  I apologize if the next few weeks are a little slow content wise but my school decided to do midterms after Christmas Break and so I have a few of those coming up that I’m studying for.  Once those are over, I might get a few more posts made and I might tackle the Death of Superman Comixplanations that I promised a while back.  But for now, Warner Bros has recently released the second trailer for the upcoming Suicide Squad movie but the first Official trailer for it (because I guess the Comic-Con trailer wasn’t “Official” for some reason).  So since there is just so much insanity to uncover in this trailer, let’s just jump right in!
