Hello interweb, Nate here! Few things before we get started. First, I apologize for the lack of content on this site as of late. As I’ve stated before, I recently started college and that has been taking up more of my time. Whenever I’m not studying, I’m just too tired to really care about blogging to I just don’t. I am hoping that will change in 2018 since I do enjoy doing this. Second, I have not reviewed Thor: Ragnarok or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and I have yet to see Justice League. Which means unfortunately this year my ranking will be incomplete. I apologize for that. Although, let’s face it, Justice League would’ve probably been the worst movie of the year considering all the other movies out. Third, my original Christmas special idea didn’t really attract anyone’s attention so I decided not to do it. Sorry!
Although, I do want to ask. Do you guys even want to see me review Thor and GotG? I’m still on break so I have time to review these films if you want me to. Although at this point, it feels like a review would be too late to be relevant. It’s up to you guys at this point! With that said, leggo! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! My first Pride Month special! I’ve always meant to do one of these but every time I found the time to do one Pride Month was over and I didn’t really want to do a Pride Month special if it wasn’t during Pride. I also wanted to get this out on the 26th since that marked the second anniversary of gay marriage being legalized in all 50 states in America, but I got busy on a Youth retreat and thus didn’t have the time to complete this. Maybe in future years I’ll be able to create a tradition of releasing a Pride special every year on June 26th but don’t get your hopes up. Enough beating around the bush, this list consists of my Top 10 Favorite characters in comics or comic book adaptations that identify as LGBT. Leggo!
Hello interweb, Nate here! So here’s another top 10 list! This time: superhero teams! If you’re familiar with my blog, number #1 shouldn’t surprise you; but how about the rest? Let’s just jump into it and find out!
Hello interweb, Nate here! So, the DCEU has been kinda sucking hasn’t it? I mean, Man of Steel sucked, Batman V Superman – while I like it as a guilty pleasure – is plagued with sloppy writing, and Suicide Squad most see as the worst of the DCEU movies. So this year Justice League and Wonder Woman is coming out. Justice League will probably suck, and I’m really hoping Wonder Woman is at least a good movie if not a great one. But one criticism the franchise has been facing over and over again is that they’re rushing the movies out too quickly to catch up to Marvel. Hell, they’ve announced a Nightwing movie when The Batman is still having development issues at the moment! So I was wondering if I was in charge of this whole project, how would I run it? So here’s my idea! When reading this, keep in mind that I’m starting from a clean slate. Meaning I’m pretending Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad never happened!
Also keep in mind I’m just focusing on the story aspect at the moment. Not thinking about cast, directors, writers, etc. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! Little late on this but that’s ok. So just like last year, I’m gonna go over the up coming comic book movies for 2017 and rank them from least anticipated to most anticipated. Pretty straight forwards, right? Alright, lego! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So recent news broke out where Greg Rucka, the writer of the current Wonder Woman comics, has confirmed in an interview that Wonder Woman was…interested and had romantic relationships with women! Yeah, he really didn’t place an official label on her as being “gay” or “bisexual” but he pretty much confirmed that Wonder Woman is at least queer. So is this a win for LGBT peoples everywhere or another attempt at forced diversity? (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I haven’t used this Comixplanations segment as much as I originally planned. Ah well. So anyhoo, we have heard from Warner Bros that Ben Affleck is not only playing Batman in the DCEU Batman movies but will also be directing it. Of course you can’t do an MCU-styled DC movie universe without making at least one Batman solo film. We know that Wonder Woman’s movie is in the works (I reviewed the first trailer) and Man of Steel 2 is currently in development (PLEASE make it better than the first movie) and on top of that Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern are all getting their solo movies. So with that there’s quite a bit of questions and speculations that we can make while waiting. However while a few of those characters I know very little about (like Aquaman), I do know most of the characters in the Justice League as well as their history and characters. And while any one of them can make a really good movie series given the right creative teams (barring Cyborg really since he honestly needs the Teen Titans to be the least bit interesting), Batman in particular has the potential for a greater movie series than even the beloved Dark Knight trilogy with so many villains and allies that have yet to be used fully in a previous Batman movie. But there’s one ally that I’m really curious on how they’re gonna go about with: Robin! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I saw Suicide Squad opening day! But before I get to this review I do want to confirm that I’ll be reviewing The Killing Joke either later today or tomorrow but I’ll definitely be reviewing it rather soon. I put a poll up in my Wonder Woman trailer review and I have at least 4 of you guys wanting me to review this animated movie and nobody seems to be against the review so I figured I’ll give into your guys’ desires and cough up a review for the movie. But I’m not reviewing The Killing Joke! I’m reviewing Suicide Squad! So let’s get into this! And as always, spoiler warning. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So I am disgustingly late to this review and I apologize for that but I finally got around to watching this film. Batman V Superman has been critically panned and while some people love it a lot of people feel like it was a train wreck of a movie that made little sense. What do I think? Well, I liked it. It’s not an amazing film but it’s not nearly as bad as critics been saying it is. But hey let’s talk about the film in the review! Also everyone has probably seen the film by now since I think I was the last person on the planet who has yet to see it until now but SPOILER WARNING just to be safe. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I apologize for how late this post is but I’ve been on a week long vacation and I couldn’t bring my computer. So I managed to get the Justice League trailer out but I couldn’t get the Wonder Woman trailer out before I left. But I did do a lot on vacation so I think I have quite a bit that I can do for future posts. For one I finally saw Batman V Superman (the theatrical cut) and Suicide Squad on opening day! I also saw the recent animated movie The Killing Joke. So while I will review BVS and Suicide Squad shortly (I’ll probably get the BVS review out later today), I was wondering if you guys wanted me to review The Killing Joke. I haven’t reviewed an animated movie before but this one in particular seems to be creating quite the stir! So I’ll have a poll below to determine whether or not you guys will be interested in a The Killing Joke review. But enough with that, today we’ll focus on Wonder Woman (the whole world is waiting!…that’s how it goes, right?).
Also as a side note: I’m three subscribers away from reaching 100 subs! Keep it up you guys!!! (more…)
