Hello interweb, Nate here! So recently a Huffington Post writer named Alanna Vagianos has written an article titled “This Is What Superheroes Would Look Like With Realistic Bodies” and proceeded to feature these characters with their photo-shopped “realistic” bodies side-by-side for comparison. Most of these make little to no sense and I’ll explain why in this response to this terrible article. So let’s just jump in, shall we?

Hello interweb, Nate here. So quite recently, Adam West passed away at the age of 88. Now I was hesitant to make this post as I actually never grew up with Adam West and therefore I was never the biggest fan of his work. Sure, he played a role in the 60’s Batman show but I honestly know him better as the Mayor of Quahog in Family Guy. However, I do have to respect the man for what he’s done in terms of his impact in comics — more specifically DC and even more specifically Batman — and because of that I respect how he has helped turn my personal favorite superhero into the icon he is today. While I’m n0t personally a fan of the campy Batman TV show myself, I do acknowledge and respect the fact that without 60’s campy Batman there might’ve not been Batman as we know him today. It’s kinda like how I respect The Dark Knight Returns for rebooting Batman into the grittier and darker character that I’ve fallen in love with even though The Dark Knight Returns itself kinda sucks in my opinion. So with all that said and done, thank you Adam West and rest in peace.
Hello interweb, Nate here! Oh, I said in the last post that I’ll do the SuperheroSins episode to DKR Pt 2? I lied! Now I’m a fan of Pokemon, Marvel, DC, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, etc. But I’m also kind of a science nerd. Because of this, sometimes I like to try and use real world science to explain things in fiction. Granted, most things in fiction usually ignores science because if superheroes were restricted to real world science then they wouldn’t be nearly as fun. However, it’s fun for me at least to try and explain fiction using real world science or at least compare them. I really don’t know why this is but I can’t be alone considering that YouTube channels like Game Theory exist as well as books like James Kakalios’s book The Physics of Superheroes is an actual published book at any library or book store. One of my favorite subjects in science is evolution and it’s a topic that I really wish I knew more about then I do currently. In addition to my fascination with evolution, I’m a huge fan of the popular video game/anime/trading card game/manga Pokemon! So I decided to write this essay in order to compare Pokemon evolution to Darwinian evolution and look at the evidence give to use from the various Pokemon medium to ask the question of if Darwinian evolution occurs in the Pokemon universe.
Disclaimer: While I am fascinated by the subject, I am no expert in evolution. In addition, while I am a huge fan of the franchise, I do not know everything about Pokemon. Therefore, I very well may make various mistakes in this article and I encourage others to correct me whenever possible. Also, I was quite proud of this so I decided to turn this into a semi-formal essay. So I hope you enjoy!
Hello interweb, Nate here! So, the DCEU has been kinda sucking hasn’t it? I mean, Man of Steel sucked, Batman V Superman – while I like it as a guilty pleasure – is plagued with sloppy writing, and Suicide Squad most see as the worst of the DCEU movies. So this year Justice League and Wonder Woman is coming out. Justice League will probably suck, and I’m really hoping Wonder Woman is at least a good movie if not a great one. But one criticism the franchise has been facing over and over again is that they’re rushing the movies out too quickly to catch up to Marvel. Hell, they’ve announced a Nightwing movie when The Batman is still having development issues at the moment! So I was wondering if I was in charge of this whole project, how would I run it? So here’s my idea! When reading this, keep in mind that I’m starting from a clean slate. Meaning I’m pretending Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad never happened!
Also keep in mind I’m just focusing on the story aspect at the moment. Not thinking about cast, directors, writers, etc. (more…)
ello interweb, Nate here! After running this blog for a couple of years, I’ve found it quite funny what posts on here get lots of views and which posts gets very little views. There are several articles I’ve written in the past that I was quite proud of making and yet nobody read them. On the other hand, while some of my cringier articles seem to have been forgotten by most, there are some that consistently seem quite popular that haunts me whenever is appears as a “TOP POSTS & PAGES”. Now I realize that that’s just how a blog works and I’m not here complaining that I have a stupid audience and you people are reading the wrong articles, not at all. Luckily I do this blog in my spare time for fun and none of my writing actually gets me money (I’d probably pay closer attention to grammar mistakes and typos if this was a funded blog with sponsors). However, I do want to make the record straight: my “Top 10 Characters Ruined by the New 52 ” is a bad post!
Hello interweb, Nate here! So 5 hours ago (at the time of this writing), the teaser trailer for Spider-man: Homecoming just dropped and confirmed that tomorrow the first official trailer will be uploaded. I do want to confirm that I will be reviewing the official Trailers for Spider-man: Homecoming. Some of my bigger readers may have noticed that I’ve been slacking a little on the trailers but that’s primarily because I decided to only do trailers for franchises I know well. Doctor Strange, Wonder Woman, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 I’m not going to do mainly because I’m not as versed in their comics books so there’s nothing I can really add to the speculation of those movies. Spider-man, on the other hand, I know decently well so I will definitely be reviewing those trailers when they drop. So stay tuned for my review which will be coming out soon after the trailer is released!
Hello interweb, Nate here! So Thursday I announced that for my 100 follower special I’d do a Q&A. Now this was an experiment as I probably won’t do these often (maybe every 100 followers?) but I did get a couple of responses from you guys so it’s time for me to answer them! I did take screenshots of each comment just so I don’t misquote anyone (that and it’s easier than retyping out the question when it’s already made) and I will link you guys to each responder’s blog! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. Hey, remember that Character Bio I said I’d do for my 100 Follower Special? Yeah, it’s not done yet! I’ve been going through some personal stuff in my life as of recently so I’ve been struggling to find the motivation to actually get it done so I thought I’d do something different. Now I’m still doing the Character Bio which I chose Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan) as requested by marvelvarietal (you can check their blog out by clicking that link) because I’m already half way finished and I actually do love Kamala so it would be nice to have her bio up on this blog. However, I figured a Q&A may be easier and quicker to do since I’m literally just taking your questions and answering them. I am at 108 followers however I doubt most of them will participate so I’ll allow you guys to ask as many questions as you wish and they don’t have to be strictly about comic books. They could be about pretty much anything you want to know. So comment below with any questions you may have and I’ll be answering them this Saturday on the 19th. Peace!
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I just hit 100 followers! Yay! So what am I going to do to celibate this moment? Well, you guys enjoy my Character Bios so much that I thought you guys could pick a character and I’ll get a bio up. Bios take a while to make due to the research and the amount of detail I put into them which is why I rarely do them, but for a 100 follower special I figured I might as well get one together for you guys.
Comment below with the character you want me to do a bio for and I’ll pick my favorite option. If you have a blog then I’ll give it a shout out! The opportunity to suggest a character will end on October 15th and hopefully I’ll have a Bio up by the 20th. The only rule that really needs to be followed is that I’ll most likely be picking a character owned by Marvel or DC Comics but otherwise I want the character options to be as free as possible. Also, please only pick one character. I don’t want to end up with one person recommending like 50 characters in a single comment. So with that, have a happy Halloween and thank you all for getting me to where I am now!
Update: Slight delay. I have the Character Bio almost complete! Probably will be up by Saturday the 29th!
Hello interweb, Nate here. So Convergence lasted a while, didn’t it? Well at least Convergence‘s failure woke DC up because this maybe the best decision they’ve made in a while. DC Rebirth, for those of you who don’t know, is the rebirth of pre-New 52 DC and combining it with the good parts of the New 52. So yes we’re getting our DC back! Most long term DC fans hated the changes within the New 52, I included, so the fact that DC is bringing in the old continuity is amazing! So just like what I did with All-New, All-Different Marvel (I’ll be reviewing some of the comics in All-New, All-Different Marvel when the trades hit shelves), I’ll be going over the on-going titles listed on the DC Rebirth’s Wikipedia page and giving my opinion on each of them. Now unlike my All-New, All-Different Marvel post, DC Rebirth isn’t alphabetical but is organized by different sections: “Batman” (including Batman, Action Comics, Nightwing, Batgirl, etc.), “Superman/Wonder Woman”, “Justice League”, and “other”. There’s also “One-Shots” which includes titles that have “rebirth” in the name (I’m guessing they’re just short miniseries for each character) but I’m not going to go over those. The list is found on the earlier link so check it out if you want. With that said, let’s get started! (more…)
