Hello interweb, Nate here. So, in order to make the past two lists, I decided to rank every Ben 10 alien in terms of how much I like them. So, I’m posting the full ranking below incase you’re curious on where your favorite alien landed on the list. I decided to split these ranks into three sections: aliens I like, aliens I’m neutral about, and aliens I dislike. This is mostly a junk post just to show off the leftovers of my two Top 10 Ben 10 posts. Enjoy!
Hello interweb, Nate here. I’ve been wanting to make this post for a while and since I’m leaving in 15 minutes to go see it I thought I’d jot down some pre-movie thoughts before I head out. I’ll have a review up tomorrow for all of you to see my final thoughts.
This movie has gotten a lot of hype and a large part of it is the fact that this is a mostly black movie with only two Tolkien white guys (like if you got that joke) in the whole mix. If you’ve been reading my blog for a while, you’d know I get really annoyed with the SJW side of comic books and I’ve had mixed opinions on representation as a whole. However, before seeing the movie I don’t really see this as a big SJW movie at all. When I think SJW, I think of people forcing representation into the story rather than letting things organically develop. Iceman is a good example of this. However, the mythos surrounding Black Panther just doesn’t come off to me as forcing representation down our throats and actually feels like a breathe of fresh air considering how few movies like this film are out there.
In fact, I’d go as far as to say this movie seems like a really important movie in terms of representation for the black community. Granted, this is kind of a funny form of representation when you really think about it. I mean, Wakanda is a fictional country with different politics and societal standards than the real world and thus doesn’t technically represent the struggles of black Americans or even black Africans (is that redundant?). Although, I realize what people mean by representation since it’s not really in comparative to real world society but mainly from Hollywood movies in general. I mean, when was the last time you saw a primarily black cast in a movie?
Now lets talk about the movie itself outside of politics for a second, since I really wanna rush this out there before I head out to see this thing. When the movie was initially announced, I wasn’t actually overly excited for the film since to me I saw it as just another Marvel movie and with Infinity War on the horizon my hype is set on that film more. But the closer this film has gotten to it’s release, the more hype it built and I’ve slowly been sucked into the hype. It wasn’t until the movie officially came out that I became as hyped as I currently am to see this thing. People keep saying it’s the best Marvel movie yet! I’m hoping I’m not over-hyping this film in my head so I’m not dissapointed if it doesn’t meet any of my unrealistic expectations, but I am excited either way.
A few predictions I want to make before seeing this thing:
One of the infinity stones are going to be in this movie as a McGuffin (I haven’t been keeping track of these rocks but I’ve been told we’re still missing one)
Despite the largely black cast, I’m not expecting this movie to get too political since it’s still a Marvel movie. Maybe they’ll make a Black Lives Matter jab or something, but for the most part idk
I am going to f*cking love Shuri and Killmonger just by judging the trailers
(Possibly more than T’challa himself)
Alright, time for me to go. Forgive any possible typos or grammar mistakes please as I wrote this in a rush. I’ll fix minor details later. Peace!
Hello interwed, Nate here! So, a few things I want to get off my chest. If you are a regular reader of mine, you’ve probably been noticing that I haven’t been writing as frequently as I used to. This blog is about four years old and I’ve enjoyed making it and updating it and receiving feedback from you guys. However, as of recent there’s been a few things that have slowly been killing my passion for writing on this blog and I feel it shows. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! This might be the first time I’ve ever reviewed one of these streaming shows. I wanted to review season 1 of Jessica Jones forever ago but just didn’t. However, the season 1 finale of Marvel’s Runaways just concluded today and I’ve never wanted to talk about a show more! Spoiler-free opinion? It’s awesome! Go watch it!!! Only major criticism is that the season is less Marvel’s “Runaways” and more so Marvel’s “Hideaways”, and I’ll get more into that in the actual review. Also, Karolina is indeed gay in this for those of you who cares. Ok, from here on out SPOILER WARNING!!!!!! You have been warned! (And seriously, if you haven’t seen the show yet please do not read this review.) (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! I feel kinda bad that I’m reviewing this film instead of Batman and Harley Quinn or Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, but I’ve been busy with college and quite frankly I really wanted to talk about this movie so here we go! I might get those reviews out if I get myself motivated to do so. Plus I recently saw Tim Burton’s Batman from 1989 so I might review that too! As always, SPOILER WARNING! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! The format to this post will be different than most. This is because I am currently away on vacation and therefore don’t have access to a computer at the moment. Meaning, this post is primarily made on a smartphone. So if this post looks a little funnier than most of my articles, or if there is more grammar issues ( as in more than usual) I apologize in advance. I may look back once I get home and edit some of the grammar issues or funny formatting, but I’m not promising anything. I am mostly making this post because I am bored and this is a topic I’ve been wanting to talk about for a while now. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So recently a Huffington Post writer named Alanna Vagianos has written an article titled “This Is What Superheroes Would Look Like With Realistic Bodies” and proceeded to feature these characters with their photo-shopped “realistic” bodies side-by-side for comparison. Most of these make little to no sense and I’ll explain why in this response to this terrible article. So let’s just jump in, shall we?

Hello interweb, Nate here. So quite recently, Adam West passed away at the age of 88. Now I was hesitant to make this post as I actually never grew up with Adam West and therefore I was never the biggest fan of his work. Sure, he played a role in the 60’s Batman show but I honestly know him better as the Mayor of Quahog in Family Guy. However, I do have to respect the man for what he’s done in terms of his impact in comics — more specifically DC and even more specifically Batman — and because of that I respect how he has helped turn my personal favorite superhero into the icon he is today. While I’m n0t personally a fan of the campy Batman TV show myself, I do acknowledge and respect the fact that without 60’s campy Batman there might’ve not been Batman as we know him today. It’s kinda like how I respect The Dark Knight Returns for rebooting Batman into the grittier and darker character that I’ve fallen in love with even though The Dark Knight Returns itself kinda sucks in my opinion. So with all that said and done, thank you Adam West and rest in peace.
Hello interweb, Nate here! Oh, I said in the last post that I’ll do the SuperheroSins episode to DKR Pt 2? I lied! Now I’m a fan of Pokemon, Marvel, DC, Sci-Fi, Fantasy, etc. But I’m also kind of a science nerd. Because of this, sometimes I like to try and use real world science to explain things in fiction. Granted, most things in fiction usually ignores science because if superheroes were restricted to real world science then they wouldn’t be nearly as fun. However, it’s fun for me at least to try and explain fiction using real world science or at least compare them. I really don’t know why this is but I can’t be alone considering that YouTube channels like Game Theory exist as well as books like James Kakalios’s book The Physics of Superheroes is an actual published book at any library or book store. One of my favorite subjects in science is evolution and it’s a topic that I really wish I knew more about then I do currently. In addition to my fascination with evolution, I’m a huge fan of the popular video game/anime/trading card game/manga Pokemon! So I decided to write this essay in order to compare Pokemon evolution to Darwinian evolution and look at the evidence give to use from the various Pokemon medium to ask the question of if Darwinian evolution occurs in the Pokemon universe.
Disclaimer: While I am fascinated by the subject, I am no expert in evolution. In addition, while I am a huge fan of the franchise, I do not know everything about Pokemon. Therefore, I very well may make various mistakes in this article and I encourage others to correct me whenever possible. Also, I was quite proud of this so I decided to turn this into a semi-formal essay. So I hope you enjoy!
Hello interweb, Nate here! So, the DCEU has been kinda sucking hasn’t it? I mean, Man of Steel sucked, Batman V Superman – while I like it as a guilty pleasure – is plagued with sloppy writing, and Suicide Squad most see as the worst of the DCEU movies. So this year Justice League and Wonder Woman is coming out. Justice League will probably suck, and I’m really hoping Wonder Woman is at least a good movie if not a great one. But one criticism the franchise has been facing over and over again is that they’re rushing the movies out too quickly to catch up to Marvel. Hell, they’ve announced a Nightwing movie when The Batman is still having development issues at the moment! So I was wondering if I was in charge of this whole project, how would I run it? So here’s my idea! When reading this, keep in mind that I’m starting from a clean slate. Meaning I’m pretending Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad never happened!
Also keep in mind I’m just focusing on the story aspect at the moment. Not thinking about cast, directors, writers, etc. (more…)
