Hello interweb, Nate here! So here’s another top 10 list! This time: superhero teams! If you’re familiar with my blog, number #1 shouldn’t surprise you; but how about the rest? Let’s just jump into it and find out!
Hello interweb, Nate here! So this is somewhat old news at this point so I apologize for the lateness but I was debating over this post in the first place. I talk about it more at the end of this article so if you want to hear more about the potentially new direction this blog is going to be taking, please go below for yourself. In the meantime, apparently, Disney has it’s first openly gay character! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! Yeesh, first my last post and now this. This blog is getting too gay! All jokes aside, quite recently Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds suggested that he would be hopeful for Deadpool to get a boyfriend in the sequel Deadpool 2 since Wade is canonically considered “pansexual” in the comics and I wanted to talk about this when it was first announced but it was such a minor piece of news that I didn’t really bother covering it. However, a few hours ago Greg Weisman, co-creator of Young Justice, recently stated that there are LGBT characters in Young Justice and it’s possible they may come out in season 3. So with two announcements of possibly more LGBT characters in comic book cartoons and movies, I figured I could share my 2 cents on this and maybe next time I can cover something a little less gay lol.
Side note: I’d really appreciate it if you guys would check out the last post I did do since it actually didn’t get as many views as I was hoping for and I really like the project that I’m working on. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! Last year I tried and failed to do a Christmas series special thingamajig with my 90’cember. So, why don’t I do something simpler! I’ll count down the top 5 Comics each company has produced this year as well as all the comic book movies! So here’s my Top 5 favorite Marvel comics of 2016!
Funny side note: Originally my idea was to have a top 10 best comics with Marvel and DC on a combined list and then a top 10 worst comics of both companies still, but I liked almost everything being published right now so pretty much the only bad comics I could think of is Civil War II and New Avengers because I didn’t like either of those titles. Even the comics I read that I thought weren’t amazing still wasn’t that bad, just okay.
Hello interweb, Nate here! So recent news broke out where Greg Rucka, the writer of the current Wonder Woman comics, has confirmed in an interview that Wonder Woman was…interested and had romantic relationships with women! Yeah, he really didn’t place an official label on her as being “gay” or “bisexual” but he pretty much confirmed that Wonder Woman is at least queer. So is this a win for LGBT peoples everywhere or another attempt at forced diversity? (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So I’ve reviewed a couple animated cartoons in the past such as Steven Universe and Miraculous Ladybug (Steven Universe probably the best cartoon on right now and still waiting for season 2 of Miraculous) however ironically enough I have yet to review an actual adaptation of a comic book. So let me correct that with a cartoon I just finished binge watching: Legion of Super Heroes! Now in a previous post a while back I said I was planning on reviewing The Spectacular Spider-man. I lied. Now I like to review movies/cartoons/comics/etc. when I just finished viewing them and their content is fresh in my mind so I can remember most of what I have just experienced. The Spectacular Spider-man is a cartoon I watched on YouTube a while back and I couldn’t find the episodes to rewatch when I wanted to review it (probably was taken down for copyright violations). However I have managed to find a cartoon series I actually never seen before and decided to take a crack at it. This is my thoughts! Also while I’ll avoid major spoilers I might give small spoilers here or there. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So the casting choices for Spider-man: Homecoming has became more and more clear that the main goal in said choices is to make Peter Parker’s high school as racially diverse as humanly possible in order to accurately present a modern day High School in Queens, New York City. Because of this, an actress named Zendaya – who apparently have so far made a name for herself on the Disney Channel which I do not watch since Cartoon Network has all my favorite shows (except Miraculous Ladybug on Nick) but that’s besides the point – has been casted to play the character “Michelle” according to the Spider-man: Homecoming wikipedia page. However apparently rumors are spreading all over the internet that the name “Michelle” is actually a cover name to hide her true character which is none other than the character Mary Jane (hence the title of this post). Of course Zendaya is half-black and half-white – but of course since this is the internet the main priority is that she is black – and Mary Jane is 100% Caucasian so people are throwing a fit on why our white redheaded character is becoming black (wait a redheaded Caucasian becoming a black character? This kinda sounds familiar…hmmm *cough*WallyWest*cough*). (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So first we have female Thor, than we had Black Captain America. How could we make the Avengers any more PC? I know! Make Iron Man a 15-year old black chick! Yay! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So Cap has been quite busy since his third movie. Why do I say that? Because two twitter hashtags have popped up since the film’s release. These hashtags includes #GiveCaptainAmericaABoyfriend and #SayNoToHydraCap. So what are my thoughts on these controversies that have popped up suddenly? Well let’s take a look! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I haven’t posted anything in a while and that’s mainly because of how busy I’ve been lately. I was originally going to review the newest Suicide Squad and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 trailers, and I will later this week, but I ultimately decided to do a SuperheroSins episode for my favorite episode of my favorite comic book based cartoon. I should also mention that this episode is the third episode of season three so if you are watching the series and you don’t want to be spoiled than I’d suggest not reading the rest of this post. Now just to give a general background to this episode: mutants have been broadcast worldwide so everyone now know they exist, people are afraid of them, and now they’re dealing with the prejudice and bigotry that you’d expect from an X-Men story.
Now this episode is my favorite mainly because it’s just such a deep episode for a children’s cartoon and it ultimately shows why I love the X-Men as a whole. I would elaborate but I feel like I should just let the episode speak for itself and my commentary as I review it below. Now the previous X-Men: Evolution episodes I commented on where found on Marvel’s official YouTube channel but they have recently taken them down so I had to find this episode from a different channel. Now this set up is a little odd as the video I found was about 30 min long but the episode just restarts half way through; so you don’t need to see the whole video. With that said, let’s get started!
