Will we see Robin in the DCEU? – Comixplanations

Batman's RobinsHello interweb, Nate here.  So I haven’t used this Comixplanations segment as much as I originally planned.  Ah well.  So anyhoo, we have heard from Warner Bros that Ben Affleck is not only playing Batman in the DCEU Batman movies but will also be directing it.  Of course you can’t do an MCU-styled DC movie universe without making at least one Batman solo film.  We know that Wonder Woman’s movie is in the works (I reviewed the first trailer) and Man of Steel 2 is currently in development (PLEASE make it better than the first movie) and on top of that Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern are all getting their solo movies.  So with that there’s quite a bit of questions and speculations that we can make while waiting.  However while a few of those characters I know very little about (like Aquaman), I do know most of the characters in the Justice League as well as their history and characters.  And while any one of them can make a really good movie series given the right creative teams (barring Cyborg really since he honestly needs the Teen Titans to be the least bit interesting), Batman in particular has the potential for a greater movie series than even the beloved Dark Knight trilogy with so many villains and allies that have yet to be used fully in a previous Batman movie.  But there’s one ally that I’m really curious on how they’re gonna go about with: Robin!

Suicide Squad – Review

Suicide SquadHello interweb, Nate here.  So I saw Suicide Squad opening day!  But before I get to this review I do want to confirm that I’ll be reviewing The Killing Joke either later today or tomorrow but I’ll definitely be reviewing it rather soon.  I put a poll up in my Wonder Woman trailer review and I have at least 4 of you guys wanting me to review this animated movie and nobody seems to be against the review so I figured I’ll give into your guys’ desires and cough up a review for the movie.  But I’m not reviewing The Killing Joke!  I’m reviewing Suicide Squad!  So let’s get into this!  And as always, spoiler warning. Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice – Review

Batman V SupermanHello interweb, Nate here!  So I am disgustingly late to this review and I apologize for that but I finally got around to watching this film.  Batman V Superman has been critically panned and while some people love it a lot of people feel like it was a train wreck of a movie that made little sense.  What do I think?  Well, I liked it.   It’s not an amazing film but it’s not nearly as bad as critics been saying it is.  But hey let’s talk about the film in the review!  Also everyone has probably seen the film by now since I think I was the last person on the planet who has yet to see it until now but SPOILER WARNING just to be safe. Justice League Trailer Review and Explained

Hello interweb, Nate here.  So during Comic-Con, DC released trailers for both Wonder Woman and Justice League and in my last post I mentioned how I adored the Wonder Woman trailer but the Justice League trailer did leave me with a few minor complaints.  Overall because I feel like I have more interesting things to say about the Justice League trailer I thought I would kick off my reviewing that trailer first and Wonder Woman second.  Now I do want to make it clear that I haven’t seen Batman V Superman yet but by now I have been spoiled so I know quite a few details about the movie.  With that said, let’s begin! Free Comic Book Day – Reviews

Free Comic Book Day 2015Hello interweb, Nate here.  So Saturday was Free Comic Book Day!  For those of you who don’t know, FCBD is the first Saturday of every May where comic book publishers selects a few of their comics and gives them out for free.  This was actually my first time going to a FCBD event so I didn’t really know what to expect.  I originally was planning on getting more titles than I got (such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar, and Pokemon) but it turned out that you where only allowed to get three comics unless you where cosplaying (dressing up as a fictional character, usually from comics or anime/manga) where you could take four.  So the comics I ended up getting was: Divergence #1 from DC, and Secret Wars #0 and All-New All-Different Avengers both from Marvel.  Since I liked all the comics I got, I decided that I wanted to give them a review.  However, because I got 3 comics that I want to review I’m not going to do my usual comic review format just to make it a little quicker.  Also, I’m just going to talk about the stories, so don’t be surprise if I don’t mention the art or anything like that.  So with that in mind, what did I think about these comics? 100th Post Special – New 52 Justice League: Origins – Review

Justice League OriginsHello interweb, Nate here.  Wow, my 100th post.  It’s kinda hard to believe that I’ve done 100 of these things.  With such a milestone I felt like I should do something special.  Originally I was going to do a countdown but I decided against that as that would be too obvious.  So I wanted to do something different from my past specials.  So I decided to review a comic.  So why this comic?  Well as most of you know by now, the New 52 is ending with Convergence and as such I decided to read arguably the New 52’s best known story: Justice League: Origins (consisting of #1-6 of the New 52’s Justice League).  Of course since this story consists of six issues this will be similar to my Civil War review however this does not have as many characters so I’m not going to put these characters in alphabetical order or anything like that.  So with that said, let’s do this! 7 Things That Batman V Superman Needs To Do

Batman V Superman Dawn of JusticeHello interweb, Nate here.  Okay, I think I’m done with the “NonComic Month”  Because of how busy I was last week I didn’t get last weeks post and now I honestly don’t really want to finish it but it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if you guys want me to finish it.  So below I have a poll asking you guys what you think.

Anyhoo, so information about the upcoming DC movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been coming out ever since Man of Steel and as far as I can tell it’s a Justice League prequel that’s going to use Lex Luthor as the villain to get the Justice League together (why exactly can’t they just call this the first Justice League movie?). Basically everybody who likes DC right now is crossing their fingers that this movie will actually be good but many out there doubting it’ll be all that good and/or will be overshadowed by Captain America: Civil War which is taking place the same year and is basically Captain America V Iron Man in a sense.  So I already talked about how I’m, hoping the DCCU won’t just be good, but better than the MCU (even though I think I’m just getting my hopes up and I might be disappointed).  So here are 7 things that needs to happen in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

To see my other Top 10s (or 5s) click here.  (Also I’d like to note that yes this is my first list that isn’t a top 5 or a top 10 but I wanted to talk about all of these factors and I couldn’t think of anything else) (more…)

Comixplanation – How the DCCU Can Beat the MCU

Hello interweb, Nate here.  Okay, let’s get a few things out of the way: yes I’m still going to finish NonComic Month, yes this post is technically breaking the whole “no comics allowed” rule for this month, and yes this is the new series (that you guys probably forgot that it was even mentioned by now) that I mentioned in my New Years Special.  This new series I call Comixplanation as I give xplanations on things in relation to comix (see what I did there?).  Now one thing is after DC announced their Convergence event (yet another DC event made to reboot their universe) I bet you guys kinda thought I would talk about it as I seemed pretty excited when I talked about Marvel’s Secret Wars event.  The only difference is this is Marvel’s first multiverse-wide reboot while DC is rebooting their universe after they just rebooted it with Flashpoint and the New 52 5 years ago and honestly I never did care for the New 52.  So while I’m excited about Secret Wars I’m really ticked about Convergence (where do I get in line?) and really don’t want to talk about it right now.

So anyways, one thing that I’m kinda excited and kinda nervous about at the same time is the upcoming DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe).  Now I have to admit, I never really wanted to pick sides in the whole “Marvel Vs DC” debate (even making a whole post about it) but that was mostly because I was always worried that if I publicly stated that I like X better than Y than you guys would start thinking that I disliked or even hated Y even though I love Y, I just like X a little more.  Now that I see how stupid that is I’m just going to come out and say it: I like DC a little more than I like Marvel.  I won’t go into the details here (that probably deserves a whole post all to itself) but it does go to show that I really want the DCCU to succeed even though the movie Man of Steel kinda makes me nervous about the whole ordeal.  So here are some ways that the DCCU could be better than the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and whether this is just me giving myself false hope or these facts will contribute in one way/shape/form will be seen in the future. Also, it should be noted that “could”=/=”will”, these are all theoretical and may not actually work out. (more…)

My Top 10 Most Anticipated Future Films

Hello interweb, Nate here.  So I made a mistake last week when I said this week would be the Halloween because I had a Halloween Party this Friday and confused it with Halloween.  So this week, I’m going to do this week and next Friday (Halloween) I’ll post my Top 10 Scariest Comic Book Characters (as usual, DC and Marvel only).  If you have a suggestion for next weeks post, leave it in the comments below or on my Facebook page.
