Hello interweb, Nate here! First of all, yeesh I forgot how big this book was. Four chapters does not equal four of your average comic books. Most comics only contain roughly 20 pages and usually takes about 10 minutes to read (although that can change depending on how fast of a reader you are and how much text the writer decides to shove into the actual book). So this SuperheroSins took a lot longer to make then I initially expected and it took my several days to actually complete it. However, because it’s so long I decided to split this into several parts with each chapter getting it’s own SuperheroSins episode.
Also I do want to add something, just because I do a SuperheroSins on a specific comic does not necessarily mean I think the comic is bad. But every comic out there can be critiqued and nitpicked if you try hard enough (side note: I find it funny that my auto correct accepted “nitpicked” as a word). With all that said, let’s begin!
Disclaimer: I do not claim to own Batman or this comic. Batman is owned by DC comics, this comic is written and drawn by Frank Miller. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So, the DCEU has been kinda sucking hasn’t it? I mean, Man of Steel sucked, Batman V Superman – while I like it as a guilty pleasure – is plagued with sloppy writing, and Suicide Squad most see as the worst of the DCEU movies. So this year Justice League and Wonder Woman is coming out. Justice League will probably suck, and I’m really hoping Wonder Woman is at least a good movie if not a great one. But one criticism the franchise has been facing over and over again is that they’re rushing the movies out too quickly to catch up to Marvel. Hell, they’ve announced a Nightwing movie when The Batman is still having development issues at the moment! So I was wondering if I was in charge of this whole project, how would I run it? So here’s my idea! When reading this, keep in mind that I’m starting from a clean slate. Meaning I’m pretending Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad never happened!
Also keep in mind I’m just focusing on the story aspect at the moment. Not thinking about cast, directors, writers, etc. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I haven’t used this Comixplanations segment as much as I originally planned. Ah well. So anyhoo, we have heard from Warner Bros that Ben Affleck is not only playing Batman in the DCEU Batman movies but will also be directing it. Of course you can’t do an MCU-styled DC movie universe without making at least one Batman solo film. We know that Wonder Woman’s movie is in the works (I reviewed the first trailer) and Man of Steel 2 is currently in development (PLEASE make it better than the first movie) and on top of that Aquaman, Flash, Cyborg, and Green Lantern are all getting their solo movies. So with that there’s quite a bit of questions and speculations that we can make while waiting. However while a few of those characters I know very little about (like Aquaman), I do know most of the characters in the Justice League as well as their history and characters. And while any one of them can make a really good movie series given the right creative teams (barring Cyborg really since he honestly needs the Teen Titans to be the least bit interesting), Batman in particular has the potential for a greater movie series than even the beloved Dark Knight trilogy with so many villains and allies that have yet to be used fully in a previous Batman movie. But there’s one ally that I’m really curious on how they’re gonna go about with: Robin! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. Welcome to 90’cember, where I go over the over-the-top craziness that is 90’s comics throughout the month of December to celebrate the over-the-top craziness that is Christmas. Today we’re going over the DC Vs Marvel comic book line and exploring the crossovers that occurred during the events.
Side note: As most of you know, the second official Batman V Superman trailer recently been released. So despite the fact that we’re in the middle of 90’cember, I thought I’d post a trailer review of it tomorrow. You guys seem to enjoy those types of posts so what the heck!
Happy Halloween interweb, Nate here. So during my review of Fant4stic I had a poll up for my Halloween Special and between the Top 10 Gothic Superhero Costumes or a Comixplanation on Death in Comics and I think it’s pretty obvious on which one won. This list is pretty simply: it’s my personal favorite Gothic superhero costumes. So basically if it’s mostly black with maybe some white, purple, or blue, than it qualifies. Let’s get the the list!
Warning: All of what I’m about to say may very well be me speculating and theorizing. So if I say something that contradicts something that is revealed later than that is why. Also just to be on the safe side I’m just going to say there are possible spoilers below but I highly doubt there’s anything that will ruin the movie if I mention it.
Hello interweb, Nate here. So as most of you probably know by now, the second trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice (you know, saying the full title over and over again doesn’t change how ridiculously cheesy it sounds) was released at Comic-Con and since I did a review on the first trailer I figured I should talk about my thoughts on this one. So let get to the review! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So DC and Marvel are no strangers to animation. While I haven’t seen every one of these, I have seen quite a few that I’ve really enjoyed. So today, I’m counting down the 10 I liked the best and the ones I would recommend to anyone.
Warning: This issue is recent and as such will contain spoilers. I will have a short spoiler-free section where I vaguely say what happened in the issue as well as my opinion. Past the spoiler-free section will have spoilers. Also, the “Ratings” section at the bottom of the post will be spoiler-free as well. You have officially been warned.
Hello interweb, Nate here. So Monday I talked about what is going on with Convergence, and Yesterday I reviewed Convergence: Superman #1. Today I review Convergence: Batgirl #1! Let’s geth this review going! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. Sorry I didn’t post yesterday but as I promised on my Facebook page (which you should really follow as I do post updates and share recent news every once in while up there) I am posting this today. So anyways, Marvel and DC has a bunch of movies that have been announced so a while ago I posted the ten that I’m most excited for. Now, here’s 10 movies that I would like them to try and make. Just for clarity, I personally believe there are two reasons for making live-action superhero movies: 1. to bring these characters that we’ve only seen in drawings and possibly cartoons come to life, and 2. to introduce new people to the characters and possibly get them curious enough to pick up one of their comic books. So these suggestions are going to be towards both or one of those categories.
Also, I said in a recent post that I would try and get at least one Character Bio out every month but the X-23 Character Bio I’m working on still needs some fine tuning. I’m almost done with it, but it’s just so incredibly long that I doubt anybody would want to read the whole thing so I’m trying to shorten it down some without losing any important information.
