Hello interweb, Nate here. So Saturday was Free Comic Book Day! For those of you who don’t know, FCBD is the first Saturday of every May where comic book publishers selects a few of their comics and gives them out for free. This was actually my first time going to a FCBD event so I didn’t really know what to expect. I originally was planning on getting more titles than I got (such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar, and Pokemon) but it turned out that you where only allowed to get three comics unless you where cosplaying (dressing up as a fictional character, usually from comics or anime/manga) where you could take four. So the comics I ended up getting was: Divergence #1 from DC, and Secret Wars #0 and All-New All-Different Avengers both from Marvel. Since I liked all the comics I got, I decided that I wanted to give them a review. However, because I got 3 comics that I want to review I’m not going to do my usual comic review format just to make it a little quicker. Also, I’m just going to talk about the stories, so don’t be surprise if I don’t mention the art or anything like that. So with that in mind, what did I think about these comics? (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. Wow, my 100th post. It’s kinda hard to believe that I’ve done 100 of these things. With such a milestone I felt like I should do something special. Originally I was going to do a countdown but I decided against that as that would be too obvious. So I wanted to do something different from my past specials. So I decided to review a comic. So why this comic? Well as most of you know by now, the New 52 is ending with Convergence and as such I decided to read arguably the New 52’s best known story: Justice League: Origins (consisting of #1-6 of the New 52’s Justice League). Of course since this story consists of six issues this will be similar to my Civil War review however this does not have as many characters so I’m not going to put these characters in alphabetical order or anything like that. So with that said, let’s do this! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So DC and Marvel are no strangers to animation. While I haven’t seen every one of these, I have seen quite a few that I’ve really enjoyed. So today, I’m counting down the 10 I liked the best and the ones I would recommend to anyone.
Warning: This issue is recent and as such will contain spoilers. I will have a short spoiler-free section where I vaguely say what happened in the issue as well as my opinion. Past the spoiler-free section will have spoilers. Also, the “Ratings” section at the bottom of the post will be spoiler-free as well. You have officially been warned.
Hello interweb, Nate here. Wow, 1st anniversary. 1 year ago Tuesday, I sat down at my computer and decided to start blogging about superheroes. Now look where I am now. I have 62 followers, my most viewed post has 450 views, and I see no signs of stopping or any reason to. So how should I celebrate my first year of this blog? How about by listing my personal Top 10 Favorite Superheroes. Now you guys might be pointing out that I’ve already did this for DC and Marvel separately, and that is true but inaccurate. When I made those lists, I tried to get 2 Top 10 lists out on the exact same day. One of these top 10 lists usually take me about 1-2 hours to make. So trying to get two lists out on the same day, I made several mistakes in those posts (e.g. forgetting some characters and wrongfully putting certain characters above others that I like better) and as such I decided to make 1 list combining both DC and Marvel superheroes. So let’s begin!
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I decided I wanted to get more Comic Book Reviews out there. So what comic should I review first? What about the first story arc of the New 52 Blue Beetle title: Metamorphosis. Because the story arc covers the first 3 issues of the New 52 Blue Beetle title, this review will be split into three parts. Part 2 can be found here, and part 3 can be found here. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. Okay, I think I’m done with the “NonComic Month” Because of how busy I was last week I didn’t get last weeks post and now I honestly don’t really want to finish it but it wouldn’t be the worst thing in the world if you guys want me to finish it. So below I have a poll asking you guys what you think.
Anyhoo, so information about the upcoming DC movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice has been coming out ever since Man of Steel and as far as I can tell it’s a Justice League prequel that’s going to use Lex Luthor as the villain to get the Justice League together (why exactly can’t they just call this the first Justice League movie?). Basically everybody who likes DC right now is crossing their fingers that this movie will actually be good but many out there doubting it’ll be all that good and/or will be overshadowed by Captain America: Civil War which is taking place the same year and is basically Captain America V Iron Man in a sense. So I already talked about how I’m, hoping the DCCU won’t just be good, but better than the MCU (even though I think I’m just getting my hopes up and I might be disappointed). So here are 7 things that needs to happen in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.
To see my other Top 10s (or 5s) click here. (Also I’d like to note that yes this is my first list that isn’t a top 5 or a top 10 but I wanted to talk about all of these factors and I couldn’t think of anything else) (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. Okay, let’s get a few things out of the way: yes I’m still going to finish NonComic Month, yes this post is technically breaking the whole “no comics allowed” rule for this month, and yes this is the new series (that you guys probably forgot that it was even mentioned by now) that I mentioned in my New Years Special. This new series I call Comixplanation as I give xplanations on things in relation to comix (see what I did there?). Now one thing is after DC announced their Convergence event (yet another DC event made to reboot their universe) I bet you guys kinda thought I would talk about it as I seemed pretty excited when I talked about Marvel’s Secret Wars event. The only difference is this is Marvel’s first multiverse-wide reboot while DC is rebooting their universe after they just rebooted it with Flashpoint and the New 52 5 years ago and honestly I never did care for the New 52. So while I’m excited about Secret Wars I’m really ticked about Convergence (where do I get in line?) and really don’t want to talk about it right now.
So anyways, one thing that I’m kinda excited and kinda nervous about at the same time is the upcoming DCCU (DC Cinematic Universe). Now I have to admit, I never really wanted to pick sides in the whole “Marvel Vs DC” debate (even making a whole post about it) but that was mostly because I was always worried that if I publicly stated that I like X better than Y than you guys would start thinking that I disliked or even hated Y even though I love Y, I just like X a little more. Now that I see how stupid that is I’m just going to come out and say it: I like DC a little more than I like Marvel. I won’t go into the details here (that probably deserves a whole post all to itself) but it does go to show that I really want the DCCU to succeed even though the movie Man of Steel kinda makes me nervous about the whole ordeal. So here are some ways that the DCCU could be better than the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) and whether this is just me giving myself false hope or these facts will contribute in one way/shape/form will be seen in the future. Also, it should be noted that “could”=/=”will”, these are all theoretical and may not actually work out. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. Okay, to put it short and simple, I’m a 15-year old guy who enjoys the superhero genre not for the romance but for the action and adventure. With that said, there has been a few couples that I have liked over the years and since this is the season of love I figured I should make a list about them. So whether or not the mention of romance makes you go “Aww!” or “Ew!” this is My Top 10 Favorite Couples.
Merry Christmas interweb, Nate here. And I am full of cheer. As this is Christmas week, and a Christmas themed post is what I seek. So I have found for you five Christmas specials, not two. From superhero cartoons you see, and reading this post has no fee. And while my rhymes might be bad, you have to admit that my effort is pretty rad. This was done first by CinemaSins‘s video titled Everything Wrong With How The Grinch Stole Christmas – Again – With Nostalgia Critic , and I thought this was cool for Christmas, I had to admit it. And while I know it’s because it was based off a book Dr. Seuss has done, does that really mean I can’t join in on the fun? So I have held back my Civil War Review, again, to do this Christmas post that’ll be read by few. So grab your egg nog and snuggle up with your dog, this is the top 5 superhero Christmas episodes! Try not to get cold.
