Hello interweb, Nate here! So, the DCEU has been kinda sucking hasn’t it? I mean, Man of Steel sucked, Batman V Superman – while I like it as a guilty pleasure – is plagued with sloppy writing, and Suicide Squad most see as the worst of the DCEU movies. So this year Justice League and Wonder Woman is coming out. Justice League will probably suck, and I’m really hoping Wonder Woman is at least a good movie if not a great one. But one criticism the franchise has been facing over and over again is that they’re rushing the movies out too quickly to catch up to Marvel. Hell, they’ve announced a Nightwing movie when The Batman is still having development issues at the moment! So I was wondering if I was in charge of this whole project, how would I run it? So here’s my idea! When reading this, keep in mind that I’m starting from a clean slate. Meaning I’m pretending Man of Steel, Batman V Superman, and Suicide Squad never happened!
Also keep in mind I’m just focusing on the story aspect at the moment. Not thinking about cast, directors, writers, etc. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So this is somewhat old news at this point so I apologize for the lateness but I was debating over this post in the first place. I talk about it more at the end of this article so if you want to hear more about the potentially new direction this blog is going to be taking, please go below for yourself. In the meantime, apparently, Disney has it’s first openly gay character! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here. So with Logan coming out in a few days and the cinematic debut of my personal favorite X-Men, X-23, I thought I should get a character bio up for this chick sooner then later. So with that this will be a somewhat special Character Bio since I want to give my opinions of X-23 being featured in Logan prior to seeing the movie so that will be near the end of this Bio. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So I claim to be such a huge X-Men fan and yet I’ve only seen X-Men: Days of Future’s Past and X-Men: Apocalypse, and I believe I’ve only reviewed the later on here. (I would give it a quick review but that movie was so forgettable I’d have to rewatch it first.) Hopefully, I’ll be able to watch and review X2, X-Men: The Last Stand, and X-Men: First Class sooner than later but I don’t know when that’ll be so no promises. With all that out of the way, let’s get to the review! Also, not sure whether this is necessary for a 17 year old movie, but SPOILER WARNING just to be on the safe side. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! So a while ago, a Tumblr page called The Hawkeye Initiative was started in wich people attempt to show how ridiculously women are drawn in comic books. Now if you ever read comic books, you’d know that this isn’t a gendered problem; and in my opinion, it isn’t a problem at all. Now sometimes these drawings do point out a genuinely ridiculous piece of art, but a lot of these it’s a very simple formula: take a reasonable drawing of a woman, draw Hawkeye in the exact same pose with the exact same body type and exact same clothes, and give him a kissy face. That should make it obvious why this initiative doesn’t work but I’ll show you some of the art from the site specifically. Now there are 53 pages worth of content on this site so obviously, I’m not going over every image. That plus sometimes an image of a girl with a thong is turned into Hawkeye with a thong and his testicles are hanging out of the sides and I’m sure most of my viewers don’t want to see that (and if you do then the link is above so just check it out for yourself). I’m just going over ten that stands out to me the most and discussing my opinions on that example. Hopefully, by the time you’re done reading this, you should be able to assess my opinions on most of the images there even if you disagree. So with that, let’s start!
Disclaimer: All art is owned by the respective comic book companies and all “fan” art is owned by the creators of The Hawkeye Initiative. I am not in any way, shape, or form responsible for the creation of these images. I am only responsible for the critiques I give to these images.
Hello interweb, Nate here. So I meant to do this Character Bio along side the one I had for Miles Morales/Spider-man a little bit ago but these Character Bios are actually some of the longest posts it takes for me to write since it takes more research than a simple review and requires more details than simply gathering a bunch of facts about a character. With that said, I absolutely love this character and really wanted a bio out of her for your entertainment and possibly have you guys fall in love with this character if you haven’t already. (more…)
ello interweb, Nate here! After running this blog for a couple of years, I’ve found it quite funny what posts on here get lots of views and which posts gets very little views. There are several articles I’ve written in the past that I was quite proud of making and yet nobody read them. On the other hand, while some of my cringier articles seem to have been forgotten by most, there are some that consistently seem quite popular that haunts me whenever is appears as a “TOP POSTS & PAGES”. Now I realize that that’s just how a blog works and I’m not here complaining that I have a stupid audience and you people are reading the wrong articles, not at all. Luckily I do this blog in my spare time for fun and none of my writing actually gets me money (I’d probably pay closer attention to grammar mistakes and typos if this was a funded blog with sponsors). However, I do want to make the record straight: my “Top 10 Characters Ruined by the New 52 ” is a bad post!
Hello interweb, Nate here! Little late on this but that’s ok. So just like last year, I’m gonna go over the up coming comic book movies for 2017 and rank them from least anticipated to most anticipated. Pretty straight forwards, right? Alright, lego! (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! Yeesh, first my last post and now this. This blog is getting too gay! All jokes aside, quite recently Deadpool actor Ryan Reynolds suggested that he would be hopeful for Deadpool to get a boyfriend in the sequel Deadpool 2 since Wade is canonically considered “pansexual” in the comics and I wanted to talk about this when it was first announced but it was such a minor piece of news that I didn’t really bother covering it. However, a few hours ago Greg Weisman, co-creator of Young Justice, recently stated that there are LGBT characters in Young Justice and it’s possible they may come out in season 3. So with two announcements of possibly more LGBT characters in comic book cartoons and movies, I figured I could share my 2 cents on this and maybe next time I can cover something a little less gay lol.
Side note: I’d really appreciate it if you guys would check out the last post I did do since it actually didn’t get as many views as I was hoping for and I really like the project that I’m working on. (more…)
Hello interweb, Nate here! You know what I decided I wasn’t going to do when this book was announced? Read it. The reason is because most event books are pointless and Marvel makes them so often that they’re annoying. I also knew that this book was nothing more than a response to Captain America: Civil War because if people saw Captain America: Civil War and then saw that Marvel was producing a book with “Civil War” as the title, people would want to buy it. Now I JUST got finished with the final issue and good god it was horrible. I did not anticipate this book being as bad as it was and I want to let off some steam. So with that, here’s my review!
MAJOR SPOILER WARNINGS FOR THE FOLLOWING COMICS: Civil War II, Ultimates, Doctor Strange, Spider-man, and Ms. Marvel
