Civil War II – Review (and Rant)

civil-war-iiHello interweb, Nate here!  You know what I decided I wasn’t going to do when this book was announced?  Read it.  The reason is because most event books are pointless and Marvel makes them so often that they’re annoying.  I also knew that this book was nothing more than a response to Captain America: Civil War because if people saw Captain America: Civil War and then saw that Marvel was producing a book with “Civil War” as the title, people would want to buy it.  Now I JUST got finished with the final issue and good god it was horrible.  I did not anticipate this book being as bad as it was and I want to let off some steam.  So with that, here’s my review!

MAJOR SPOILER WARNINGS FOR THE FOLLOWING COMICS: Civil War II, Ultimates, Doctor Strange, Spider-man, and Ms. Marvel

Deadpool “The Never-Ending Struggle” – Review

deadpool-vol-4-20Hello interweb, Nate here!  So when you hear “Deadpool”, does serious issues like suicide come to mind?  I doubt it, and yet that’s exactly what we get in Deadpool #20!  I wanted to highlight this specific issue because I fell in love with it the second I read it and I actually decided to go out and buy a physical copy to own (I read most of my comics online since it’s cheaper). Batman/Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Review

Batman TMNTHello interweb, Nate here.  It’s a crossover where the Turtles travel to Gotham and meets Batman.   Do I need to introduce this review any other way?  Let’s just jump in! (more…)

X-Men: Battle of the Atom – Review

X-Men Battle of the AtomHello interweb, Nate here.  So despite my love for the X-Men, I have to admit that I’ve fallen behind on the team.  Now All-New, All-Different Marvel is starting up again with new X-Men titles but I’ve heard good things and bad things about Brian Michael Bendis’s Uncanny X-Men and All-New X-Men titles from “Marvel Now!” so I thought I’d go back and read those two titles before jumping on the current ones.  So while binge-reading (is that a thing?) these two X-Men comics, I finally got around to reading the 2013 mega crossover event: X-Men: Battle of the Atom.  This 10-issue story crossed over every X-Men title that was going on at the time so if you love the X-Men as much as I do than it is definitly a must read.  But I’ve stalled long enough, so let’s get to the review!  Also, spoiler warning. Deadpool’s Secret Secret Wars – Review

Deadpool's Secret Secret Wars #1Hello interweb, Nate here.  So since I haven’t posted anything in the last few weeks (baring that one update), and I recently finished reading this Secret Wars tie-in, I figured why not make a really quick review of it?  I do apologize if this review isn’t very thorough but I do feel like I should get something out there for you guys.  I probably will make something by Monday.  So let’s jump right into it! The Superior Spider-man – Review

The Superior Spider-manHello interweb, Nate here.  So marvelvarietal at receive grace 2 show grace requested me to review this title and since I personally like to do fan-requested posts I figured why not?  So here it is: The Superior Spider-man.  If you’d like to request a post (such as a review or Character Bio) than comment below or email me at sablikid626@gmail.com. Ultimate Spider-man Vol 1: Power and Responsibility – Review

Ultimate Spider-man Vol 1 Power and ResponsibilityHello interweb, Nate here.  Sorry I didn’t post anything Monday but hopefully this will make up for that.  So I’ve said several times in the past that I like Miles Morales/Spider-man more than the current Peter Parker/Spider-man, and I still have that opinion.  Many people say that Spider-man comics has been going downhill since the terrible storyline that is One More Day but I don’t really know how true that is since I haven’t been reading comics for that long.  With the lack of really good Spider-man stories recently, I decided to check out the Ultimate Spider-man comics starting with the first trade (consisting of the first 7 issues): Ultimate Spider-man Vol 1: Power and Responsibility, which retells the origin of Peter Parker, aka Spider-man. Blue Beetle Volume 8 – Review

Blue Beetle ShellshockedHello interweb, Nate here.  So while I’m revisiting episodes of Justice League to get ready for Friday’s list, I thought I would take today to review a title that I’ve been wanting to read and review for a while: Blue Beetle Volume 8.  I’ve already reviewed the first 3 issues of the New 52 Blue Beetle (reviews of issues 1, 2, and 3) so I decided to check out Jaime Reyes’s first comic book run.  The only problem is I got the entire run from my library as trades (the list of trades for this run is below) and I actually couldn’t get my hands on the one called Blue Beetle: Black and Blue.  Usually I would be find with this, but since I’m reviewing the series I kinda feels like this would make the review incomplete.  So just keep that in mind.  Also since I’m reviewing the entire run I’m not going to do my usual format and instead I’ll just talk about the book similarly to how I did my FCBD reviews. Free Comic Book Day – Reviews

Free Comic Book Day 2015Hello interweb, Nate here.  So Saturday was Free Comic Book Day!  For those of you who don’t know, FCBD is the first Saturday of every May where comic book publishers selects a few of their comics and gives them out for free.  This was actually my first time going to a FCBD event so I didn’t really know what to expect.  I originally was planning on getting more titles than I got (such as Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar, and Pokemon) but it turned out that you where only allowed to get three comics unless you where cosplaying (dressing up as a fictional character, usually from comics or anime/manga) where you could take four.  So the comics I ended up getting was: Divergence #1 from DC, and Secret Wars #0 and All-New All-Different Avengers both from Marvel.  Since I liked all the comics I got, I decided that I wanted to give them a review.  However, because I got 3 comics that I want to review I’m not going to do my usual comic review format just to make it a little quicker.  Also, I’m just going to talk about the stories, so don’t be surprise if I don’t mention the art or anything like that.  So with that in mind, what did I think about these comics? 100th Post Special – New 52 Justice League: Origins – Review

Justice League OriginsHello interweb, Nate here.  Wow, my 100th post.  It’s kinda hard to believe that I’ve done 100 of these things.  With such a milestone I felt like I should do something special.  Originally I was going to do a countdown but I decided against that as that would be too obvious.  So I wanted to do something different from my past specials.  So I decided to review a comic.  So why this comic?  Well as most of you know by now, the New 52 is ending with Convergence and as such I decided to read arguably the New 52’s best known story: Justice League: Origins (consisting of #1-6 of the New 52’s Justice League).  Of course since this story consists of six issues this will be similar to my Civil War review however this does not have as many characters so I’m not going to put these characters in alphabetical order or anything like that.  So with that said, let’s do this!
